Profile of Dr. Partha Chattopadhyay

Dr. P.Chattopadhyay received M.Sc in Inorganic Chemistry and Ph.D in Inorganic Analytical Chemistry from University of North Bengal Darjeeling, West Bengal in 1980 and 1983, respectively. In his doctoral work he introduced a new analytical reagent called ACENAPHTHENEQUINONEDIOXIME for quantitative estimation of various elements like nickel, cobalt, copper and palladium both in milligram and microgram level in complex matrix which was found to be superior to other known reagents used for similar purpose and the reagent has still been widely used internationally. He then joined in Geological Survey of India and worked there for 8 years on rocks, minerals and associated materials for their quantitative estimation of elemental concentrations. Joined Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (Formerly RRL-Bhubaneswar) in 1991. Presently working as Scientist EII in the Material Characterization Department. Awarded Raman Research Fellowship 2001 by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Visiting Research Fellowship by Murdoch University, Perth, Australia.
