  1. Application :
    It is a process for glazing or glass coating on terracotta products, such as roof tiles, floor tiles, handicrafts, earthenware’s etc., using waste soda glass. A negligible amount of lead oxide is used for melting the glaze at low temperature (below 9000C) in the “Queen” kiln. Glazings improve the lustre & life of terracotta and make the products water proof.
  2. Raw Materials:
    Broken glass bottles, borax and lead oxide.
  3. Process Features:
    The frit is prepared from the broken glass pieces, then it mixes with borax & lead oxide to grind in a ball mill. The glaze mixture is coated over terracotta using water and fired in the Queen Kiln for melting the glaze at 900oC.
