The Herbal Drugs & Bio-Remedies Cell has focused R & D activities in the areas of bio-active molecules, leads and drugs from herbs and marine microbial sources, Herbal drugs standardization, new formulations and marker compounds, Screening of new and unexplored natural sources, Synthesis & semisynthesis of bio-active molecules and NCE development.

To Explore mangrove/marine flora of Orissa and marine sessile organisms of Bay Bengal, Orissa coast for bioactive substances, leads and potential drugs.

Exploration of microbial wealth from unique marine niches like associated microbes of marine sessile organisms viz., sponges, soft corals, gorgonids etc. and marine sediments with emphasis on isolation, study of biodiversity, microbial bank, biotechnological applications and novel / bioactive compounds .
