ISMO-09 will be held at the Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India. IMMT (formerly Regional Research Laboratory), Bhubaneswar was set up as a premier establishment of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi in 1964 in the State of Orissa, in eastern India. Over the years, IMMT has developed S&T capabilities in a wide range of areas from mineralogy to materials engineering.

Bhubaneswar, popularly known as the “Temple City of India”, is the capital city of Orissa. Famous 11th century Lingaraj temple is ~ 8 km away from the Institute. World famous Sun temple at Konark and Lord Jagannath temple at Puri are ~ 60 km distance each from Bhubanesaw and can be visited in one day. Delegates may visit these two places and also the Dhauli Bhuddist temple ( Shanti stupa which is ~ 15 km away from the Institute) on the way to Puri and Konark. The city is well connected by air, rail and road to the rest of India. With the abundance of mineral resources, along coastline and inland waters, the bio-diversity of its forests and a rich cultural heritage, Orissa has become a privileged destination for investment in mineral industry. Bhubaneswar has a tropical climate with temperature varying between 18°C (minimum) and 30°C (maximum) during December.
