About NCIC 2019 (24th-25th JAN 2019)

National Conference on Industrial Coatings (24th-25th JAN 2019)

Preamble: There is growing demand for more robust state-of-the-art industrial coating technology working efficiently under highly aggressive environment, in order to boost the life cycle of various materials for environmental and economic savings. On land and sea, industrial coatings need to withstand some of the harshest environments and climates. An intense effort is underway to find innovative coatings that can mitigate this problem, a problem costing globally more than US$2.5 trillion. Global sales of general industrial coatings reached $23 billion in 2015, which is expected to reach more than US$ 30 billion by 2020 (IRL). Most industrial coatings are used for corrosion control of concrete and steel, but they lie under a complex market umbrella and work in numerous areas. The most common application for these coating products is to prevent corrosion of steel and concrete.

Various traditional mitigation strategies employed by the industries, such as protective coatings, anodic or cathodic protection, corrosion inhibitors, and alloys coatings etc. have brought out significant benefit to the industries. However, with changing climatic working scenario having very hostile surroundings, we require to have coatings much stronger, corrosion resistant and environment benign with properties out of reach of prior generations.

Scope and Importance

The goal of NCIC 2019 is to provide a common platform for researchers and engineers coming from academia and industry to present their research results and activities in the field of fundamental, applied and interdisciplinary research on industrial coatings. The symposium brings together the scientists, researchers, technocrats, and business giants, to offer platform for the dissemination of original research results, new ideas and practical development and discover advances in the field of advanced industrial coatings. The close interactions between the experts and participants will help identify the new challenges and emerging trends of such highly interdisciplinary research area. Long term solutions to these problems will depend on breakthrough innovations in materials. These have been key to the increased research activities on challenging materials design that is making the sustainability a reality. The conference will consist of keynote lectures, invited lectures, and oral presentation which would cover recent advances in industrial coatings research.
