International Seminar on Magmatic Ore Deposits (ISMO-2009)
Platinum group elements (PGEs: Pd, Pt, Rh, Ru, Ir, Os) in magmatic ore deposits are assuming an increasingly important role in modern industrial society for their use in automobile emission controls, fuel cells, catalysis, electronic components and cancer treatment. In the past decade there has been a surge in exploration for PGEs all over the world, including the Indian subcontinent. This is reflected in the continuing growth of research and exploration efforts for magmatic N-Cu-(PGE) sulphide deposits hosted in mafic-ultramafic rocks in this country. The incidence of platinum group of elements (PGE) have been reported in Orissa and other states of India over last two decades. Despite tremendous progress, there remains much to be probed and known. This directly calls for dissemination of plethora of geo-informatics for up dating the present embodiment of Earth Science System. Thus, it was imperative to bring together our academicians, geologist, researchers, metallurgist and Engineers from around the world to Bhubaneswar, the Temple City of East India, with a view to understand the updated researches in this front in India and around the globe. |

Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar, Geological Society of India, Bangalore and National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad have jointly organizied an international Symposium on magmatic ore deposits (ISMO-09) during 1-4 December, 2009.
