Recent awareness is for the use of eco-friendly natural dyes from plant resources due to the hazardous and carcinogenic effect of many synthetic dyes. IMMT, Bhubaneswar has taken up the challenge for the extraction of natural dyes from different plants, development of dyeing technique and identification of main constituents responsible for dyeing. Ultimately a pilot scale production plant on Natural Dye is set up and inaugurated by Prof. B. K. Mishra, Director, IMMT, Bhubaneswar on 4th May, 2009.
