Vigilance Week - 2007 at IMMT

   

Following programmes were observed on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week from 12-16th November, 2007 at IMMT- Bhubaneswar.

Prominently written banners were displayed in various locations of the Institute including the main entrance gates exhibiting the importance of being vigilant against corruption.

On 12th November, 2007 at 11 AM, Prof. B.K. Mishra, Director, administered pledge to all staff members of the Institute both in Hindi and English followed by a short speech on motto behind celebration of VAW-007 at IMMT.

On 14th November, 2007 at 3 PM, a debate competition was held among XI & XII students of Bhubaneswar based schools and junior colleges. The topic of the debate was “Corruption is an index for societal backwardness”. Participants highlighted various aspects of the topic and the debate was very lively.

On 15th November, 2007 (i) there was a poster/cartoon and (ii) debate competitions among the staff members, JRF, SRF and QHF on corruption vis-à-vis vigilance. The topic of the debate was “Vigilance Organisations – alleviating symptoms or curing the malaise”. A good number of participants had taken part in both the competitions.

Valedictory function was held on 16th November at 3 PM in the Meeting Hall of the Laboratory. .Shri A.B. Tripathy, IPS (Retd), former DG of Police, Govt. of Orissa was the Chief Guest. Director, IMMT presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. Dr. B.K. Mohapatra, Scientist & Chairman of Vigilance Awareness Committee-2007 briefed the meeting about the motto of celebration and how the message of the week was successfully conveyed to the staff members and public associated with IMMT. The Chief Guest gave a very thought provoking speech out of his long experience highlighting various types of rampant corruptions prevailing in public life and different aspects of vigilance. Shri P.K. Ray, Administrative Officer--cum-Vigilance Officer of the Institute hinted upon various aspects of CSIR vigilance. Prizes were distributed among winning staff members and XI, XII students. The motto of celebration of Vigilance Awareness Week was mostly successful.
