My research work is also related to colloidal systems. The range of colloidal systems of practical importance is vast, as is the range of processes where colloid/surface chemical phenomena are involved. Here are some SEM micrographs of silica hollow spheres synthesized by sol-gel/emulsion method. This can be used as carrier materials and as catalytic support in the fluidized-bed catalysis applications. It can also be used as filler for lightweight composites and as filler in paints for sound proofing applications. My research work is focused on developing a cost effective recipe for the synthesis of high yield hollow sphere of a narrow dispersion.
