    DESCRIPTION :

    Dr. K. J. Sankaran is currently working as Senior Scientist in the Advanced Materials Technology Department at CSIR-Institute of Minerals & Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar, India. He obtained his B.Sc. in Physics from Madurai Kamaraj University in 2005 and M.Sc. in Materials Science from Anna University, Chennai in 2007. He received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan in 2013 under the supervision of Prof. Nyan-Hwa Tai and Prof. I-Nan Lin. The title of his Ph.D. thesis is “Structural and Electron Field Emission Properties of Ultrananocrystalline Diamond Films”. Following his Ph.D., he got FWO Pegasus Marie Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (2014-2015) and FWO Postdoctoral Fellowship (2015-2018) in Belgium and worked with Prof. Ken Haenen at the Institute for Materials Research at the Hasselt University, Belgium. His research interest includes synthesis of nanomaterial thin films (especially carbon nanotubes/diamond thin films/graphene) using microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition, pulsed laser deposition and DC/RF sputtering systems for electronic, optoelectronic, electrochemical and tribological applications. His present research work is focused on (i) large area low temperature diamond thin film growth on various substrate materials, (ii) metal oxide coatings using pulsed laser deposition system for potential applications, and (iii) gas sensing of ferrites.
