DESCRIPTION :
Dr. Dipti P. Das honored as the Best Graduate gold medalist in Chemistry from College of Basic Science and Humanities (OUAT) in the year 1998. Subsequently received the masters degree in analytical chemistry from Utkal University in 2000. Dr. Das got the Ph.D. award in Chemistry from Vidyasagar University, West Bengal in the year 2006. She has developed various visible light sensitive photocatalysts which are of great use for photodegradation of organic/inorganic/textile dye pollutants under solar light irradiation. Many catalysts and adsorbants developed by her are shown to be effective for removal of toxic components of industrial wastes. Many industrial wastes which are directly sent to the water creating unhygienic and toxic effects on living organisms can be treated using those low-cost materials. Dr. Das has developed a good number of visible light driven catalysts ca. N-doped mixed oxides, metal sulphide intercalated zirconium-titanium phosphate, metal vanadate pillared zirconium-titanium phosphate, graphene/graphene quantum dot based nanocomposites which are having great applications towards photodegradation of organic/inorganic/textile dye pollutants under abundantly available solar light and hydrogen generation through water splitting under visible light illumination with significantly higher quantum efficiency. She was conferred with Prof. R.C. Tripathy Young Scientist Award in 2006 and Prof. Dayanidhi Pattnaik Award in 2007 instituted by Odisha Chemical Society (OCS). Also, Dr. Das received the prestigious national CSIR-Young Scientist Award in chemical Sciences and Odisha Young Scientist Award instituted by Odisha Bigyan Academy in 2012 for her outstanding contribution for the development of novel photocatalysts for solar energy conversion. Dr. Das is having 43 International publications, 04 book chapters, 04 Indian Patents and one International patent application to her credit. She has developed a 1000 L solar photoreactor for mineralisation of real time industrial textile dyes in collaboration with the team and Sambalpuri Vastralay under DST WTI project. Currently, she is exploring the possibility of photodegradation of microplastics and antibiotics using LDH based and bioinspired CQD, respectively with her team and students. She is serving as a reviewer in many Elsevier, RSC, ACS and Springer Journals of International repute.
