DESCRIPTION :
Binapani Behera completed B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) Sarang in 2012. Thereafter, she did M.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in 2014. During masters, she worked on mathematical modeling and experimental validation of two-phase (Water-Toluene) flow through milli-channels; which involved stability analysis by energy minimization techniques, surface properties modification and hold-up measurement studies. She started professional career as a scientist at CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar in November 2015. Since then, she has been working in the areas of hydro & electrometallurgy to recover metal values from low-grade ores; and secondaries such as scrap, permanent magnets, tailings, slag and spent catalysts, etc., including industrial effluents. Besides, she is being associated with pilot plant facility creation and also has special interest towards recovery of REEs and mathematical modeling.
Received fourth prize (Rs One lakh prize) in
the ‘Grand fly ash utilization challenge’ contest conducted by NTPC during
2018-19.
