  • Dr. Murali Sekhar Jena, Scientist-F 9437162161,   msjena@immt.res.in ,

    DESCRIPTION :

Dr. M. S. Jena completed his M. Tech. in Mineral Processing in 2003. Later on, he earned his Ph. D. in Mineral Engineering from Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad for the research work focused on “Studies on Characterization and Pre-Concentration of PGE Values from Low Grade Chromite Ores of Boula Area, Odisha” in 2016. Initially after completion of his M. Tech., he was working as a senior research scholar and then as a Fellow Scientist in the department of Mineral Processing at CSIR - Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology[IMMT], Bhubaneswar up to 2008. Subsequently, he has been working as a Scientist in the same department at CSIR-IMMT. Dr. Jena is having expertise on process flow sheet development for beneficiation/processing of lean grade ores, wastes and coal. He developed a novel method for coarse coal particle flotation. He also experienced on plant auditing and simulation of mineral processing circuits. He was teaching mineral processing unit operations to the Post-Graduate Diploma in Mineral Engineering (PGDME) students of the Institute and supervising several M. Tech/ B. Tech. students for their project works. Presently, Dr. Jena is perusing his research in the area of processing of Platinum Group Elements (PGE) bearing minerals/ores. He has completed two R&D projects in this area. Currently, he is leading and working for a mega sponsored R&D project on PGE ore beneficiation of Boula area. His expertise on characterizing and recovering PGE values from the low grade chrome ores of Boula-Nuasahi area is really a break through achievement for the nation. Dr. Jena received many awards and actively engaged as reviewer for many SCI journals.
