    DESCRIPTION :

    Dr. Swagat S. Rath commenced his research career in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur during his Master of Technology program. He subsequently held research and development positions in industry, serving as Assistant Manager (R&D) at ACME Telepower Ltd., Gurgaon, and later as R&D Lead at Aster Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad. He also worked in the R&D division of Gharada Chemicals Ltd. before joining the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR‑IMMT), Bhubaneswar, as a Scientist in 2011.

    At CSIR‑IMMT, Dr. Rath has pursued research in mineral beneficiation, with emphasis on developing process flowsheets for low‑grade and complex ores. His work has addressed beneficiation of iron ores, lithium‑bearing hard rocks, bauxite, manganese ore, chalcopyrite, and potash‑bearing hard rocks. He has contributed to methodologies for extracting lithium carbonate from primary Indian resources, applied molecular modeling to the design of flotation reagents, and advanced reduction roasting and magnetic separation techniques for low‑grade iron ores using cost‑effective reductants.

    Dr. Rath has executed more than twenty projects sponsored by industry and government organizations. His research has been disseminated through approximately seventy publications in international peer‑reviewed journals indexed in the Science Citation Index, which have collectively received more than three thousand citations. These publications address both fundamental and applied aspects of mineral processing, flotation chemistry, computational modeling, and sustainable beneficiation practices
