DESCRIPTION :

Mr. Santosh Deb Barma joined CSIR-Institute of Minerals & Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar, in the year 2015 as a Scientist. He received his graduation in Chemical Engineering from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET, Longowal), Deemed University (CFTIs under MoE, GoI), Punjab, and was awarded Gold Medal for securing 1st rank in the department. He is also the recipient of the Central Bank of India Award for his best academic performance during graduation. After working in Khanna Paper Limited, Amritsar for some months, Mr. Deb Barma joined his post-graduation in the Department of Chemical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, and graduated, securing 3rd rank in the department. Meanwhile, for a year, he also worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Institute of Technology, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (Central University, GOI), Bilaspur, Chattisgarh. Prior to joining CSIR-IMMT, Mr. Deb Barma received a prestigious PETRONAS scholarship and Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship for his doctoral study. He is presently one of the Executive Committee (EC) members of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), Bhubaneswar Regional Centre and was the Hon. Joint Secretary of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), Bhubaneswar Regional Centre from 2017-2019. He is also associated with other professional bodies such as Institute of Engineers, Indian Institute of Mineral Engineers, Indian Institute of Metals, and Society of Geoscientists and Allied Technologists as a member. Presently, he is working on different projects dealing with the processing, beneficiation and effective utilization of different types of mineral ore. His expertise includes sonochemical treatment of minerals, intensification of the conventional process by hydroacoustic cavitation, beneficiation using flotation techniques, chemical leaching and solvent extraction, etc. He is a reviewer of several journals of his expertise such as RSC Advance, Journal of Cleaner Production, Fuel Processing Technology, Ultrasonics Sonochemistry, Energy & Fuels, Royal Society of Open Science, Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China, Iranian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Powder Technology, etc., just to name a few. He is also an invited reviewer of books for Material Science and Engineering Group, Elsevier.
