DESCRIPTION :
Dr. Swagatika Dash, currently working as a principal scientist in the Department of Process Engineering and Instrumentation at CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar, India. She completed her B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from IGIT Sarang in 2009 and M. Tech. in Material Resource Engineering from AcSIR in 2012. She was awarded PhD degree in Engineering Science in the area of Modelling and Simulation for solvent extraction of rare earth metals. She has keen interest to solve industrial issues through her knowledge in modelling and simulation.
Dr. Swagatika Dash has been engaged in the research field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for various unit operations. She has worked in the area of CFD simulation of a microfluidic device for dielectrophoretic separation of charged gold nanoparticles based on size, CFD simulation for electrophoretic translocation of a charged particle through nanopore using moving mesh, CFD studies of a magnetic separator with spheres matrix, to name a few. She got an opportunity to carry out CFD simulation for an industrial scale fluidized bed roaster (the largest roaster of India) to enhance its throughput, and completed the project successfully. The roster performance has been improved and is operating successfully at HZL. She has completed a project sponsored by NALCO on data reconciliation for vanadium and zinc balance of the Alumina refinery plant of NALCO, Damanjodi. She has also worked on studying molecular modelling for solvent extraction of rare earth metals using a hybrid technique. She was involved in developing CFD model for separation of rare earth metals in hollow fiber supported liquid membrane. Further, she was working on selective extraction of chromium from effluent of electroplating industry using DFT, and CFD simulation for design of Hollow Fiber Membrane for separation of chromium from effluent of electroplating industry.
