    Like every year, CSIR-IMMT celebrated the National Science Day on 28th February 2020 to commemorate the discovery of the "Raman Effect" by Sir C. V. Raman on 28th February 1928. The theme of this year's National Science Day Celebration was "Women in Science". Dr. Gitanjali Batmanabane, Director, AIIMS Bhubaneswar was the Chief Guest and Prof. Shikha Varma, Institute of Physics was the Guest of Honor on this occasion. Dr. Swati Mohanty, Chairman of the function, introduced about the National Science Day and the activities of women guests in science. Prof. S. Basu, Director of CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar in his welcome address highlighted the scientific temper of the nation and the role of women in the growth of Indian science. Chief Guest of the function Dr. Gitanjali Batmanabane in her lecture, “Nurturing the Leader in You,” explained some important points which are particularly helpful for women scientists & students. Prof. Shikha Varma, in her talk, “Excitements in Nanoscience,” explained the implications of nanoscience for the betterment of human life. Different school and college students who were present during the program showed a lot of interest in clarifying their doubts from the guests. The programme closed with a vote of thanks by Dr. Manas K. Dalai, Convener of the event.
