Achievements

Recovery of tellurium from anode slime; Hindlco Indstries Unit, Birla copper, Dahej, Gujurat.
Recovery of Nickel from spent electrolyte; Hindlco Indstries Unit, Birla copper, Dahej, Gujurat.
Development of process for recovery of cobalt from super alloy scrap/sludge and a plant of capacity 100 tpy was set up at Baroda by M/s Rubamin Pvt. Limited.
Setting up of a plant at Kanpur by M/s S.K. Enterprises for the production of copper and zinc from spent catalyst at 250 kg per day scale each of metal.
For the first time in India , high pure cobalt metal is produced by M/s HZL at Debari, near Udaipur on the basis of inputs by IMMT-Bhubaneswar.
M/s Pantnagar Fertilizers, Muzaffarnagar has started producing zinc metal based on basic process package developed by the department.
M/s Shalina Trading Corporation Limited, Mumbai set up a Plant of producing Cobalt carbonate based on the process developed and design provided.
Development of a process and testing the same in Nickel Technolgy Proving Plant at a capacity of 10TPD chromite over burden.
Process development for recovery of Copper, Nickel and Cobalt from polymetallic nodules.

About IMMT

CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) was established on 13.04.1964 as Regional Research Laboratory, Bhubaneswar in the eastern part of India under the aegis of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi.
