Recognizing that India?s progress depends on human resources, as per Govt. of India flagship programme on Skill development, CSIR has initiated a major programme in tune with Govt. policy named as ?CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative?. Having highly talented scientist and technical personnel along with latest advanced facilities, CSIR is in a unique position to contribute to the Govt. effort. The ?CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative? helps CSIR contribution towards its Scientific Social Responsibility. The goal of this initiative is to equip young minds with the necessary scientific and technological skills through exposure to research laboratories there by addressing the need to fill the technological gap. Also it is hoped that this will help nurture and promote entrepreneurship. Research activities in CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar is focused in field of Mineral and Material Resource Engineering. IMMT has expertise in conducting basic research and technology oriented programs to address the R&D problems of mining, mineral and metals industries and ensure their sustainable development. Skill Development Programme in CSIR-IMMT will not only cover core expertise areas but also on various related fields such as Machining/Welding, Information and Communication Technology, Gemstones, Waste Utilization, Environmental Analysis etc.
